The diary inspirations: Vintage magazines!

Anything that has a vintage illustration in it, im up for it, ill love it even if its a box or a piece of paper!Oh yeah, Im that obsessed, and this time ill show you my favorite illustrations from magazine covers. 


Todo lo que tenga una ilustración vintage me encanta, incluso si es una caja o un pedazo de papel! Ay si! así de obsesionada estoy, y esta vez les mostrare mis ilustraciones favoritas usadas en covers de revistas.

I have got two reasons for success and I'm standing on both of them...Yep! Im pretty sure they guaranteed her ultimate success! Betty Grable was such a cutie pie! 

Tengo dos razones para triunfar y estoy parada en ambas...Si, estoy segura de que le garantizaron el éxito rotundo! Betty Grable era adorable! 

En 1953, aparece la primera base de maquillaje en emulsion liquida, llamada Fluid Make-up. Esto hizo que las bases existentes, llamadas Pancake comenzaran a decaer. 

The first liquid foundation emerged in 1953, by the name of Fluid Make-up. This made the existing foundations, called pancakes, began to wane.

Yeah, and make sure they are 40s shoes! Apart from all tragedies and trouble caused by World War II, it also became somewhat helpful for some daily articles to develop and become a classic nowadays. Since shoes like any other clothing item, were expensive and very difficult to buy, it came down to: 

Si, y asegurate de que sean de los 40s! Aparte de todas las tragedias y los problemas causados por la segunda guerra mundial, se puede decir que fue buena para que algunos artículos de la vida cotidiana (zapatos) se desarrollaran y se convirtieran en grandes clásicos el dia de hoy. Puesto a que los zapatos, como cualquier otra prenda de vestir eran caros y difíciles de comprar, todo se redujo a:

My personal favorite: The wedgies!

These to die for platform shoes were really comfortable for daily wear, and it was used to add decent height, without having to wear heeled shoes.

Estos zapatos eran increíblemente cómodos para el uso diario, y aportaban cierta altura, sin tener que recurrir a zapatos de tacon. 

Mary Jane pumps: This is one hell of a classic too! This shoe was a staple among woman in the 40s, chunky heel and a single strap across the ankle, made it look comfortable, fashionable and it was easy to make. Most of the styles were made of mesh and fabric, since leather was rationed during the war. 

Los Mary Jane: Este es todo un clásico! Estos zapatos eran un elemento basico entre las mujeres de los 40s, tacones gruesos y una correa en el tobillo, lo hacían comodo, a la moda y era facil de fabricar. La mayoría de los estilos eran hechos de tejido y tela, ya que el cuero era muy limitado durante la guerra.

The peep toe: This shoe emerged in the late 40s and once the war was over, all conservatism was gone with it too. So the shoes grew taller, there were more materials to work with, and toes began to peep trough. The peep toe is known as the most iconic shoe of the 40s. 

Los peep toe: Estos surgieron a finales de los 40s, y una vez terminada la guerra todo el conservatismo se fue con ella. Por tanto, los zapatos se hicieron mas altos, habían mas materiales con los cuales trabajar y los dedos se comenzaban a mostrar. Los peep toes se conocen como los zapatos mas emblemáticos de la decada de los 40. 

The oxfords were popular too, but they are considered as a 50s shoe. 
Los oxfords eran populares tambien, pero se consideran como zapatos de los 50s.

Im crazy in love with lucy!

Siempre me arrepentiré del dia que fui a una farmacia durante mi viaje a NY y me fui sin el DVD de la sexta temporada de I LOVE LUCY! Y se preguntaran...¿Porque una chica tan old fashioned como yo rechazo una pieza tan valiosa? (Tengan en cuenta que nunca encontraria uno en venta en mi pais, y a tan buen precio!) Pues, porque no tenia dinero suficiente y no podia volver ya que era el ultimo dia de mi viaje! FML por siempre :) No te preocupes lucy, siempre te amare! <3

I will always regret the day I walked into a random drugstore during my visit to NY, and left without  THE COMPLETE 6TH SEASON of I LOVE LUCY ON DVD! And you may wonder.. why would an old fashioned girl like me reject such valuable piece? (Keep in mind i would never find one for sale where i live, Dominican Republic, let alone at such good price!) Well, didnt have enough cash with me and i couldnt go back because it was the last day of my trip! Yeah FML forever and ever :) Dont worry lucy, ill always love you! <3
